The Overview

Building Regional Main Street Connections

 

RiverCOG and Connecticut Main Street Center (CMSC) are working together to strengthen Main Streets RiverCOG towns and build regional Main Street connections.

Step 1 - Gather current status of regional Main Streets at the Kick-Off Event held November 14, 2025 and resident opinions about regional Main Streets through a Region-wide Survey.

Step 2 - Each Town Drafts a Vision Statement for its Main Street/Downtown at a Workshop in early 2026.

Step 3 - CMSC recommends strategies to strengthen each Town's Main Street/Downtown that are validated or adjusted by towns in mid 2026.

Step 4 - Final Report with Regional Vision and Strategies to connect and strengthen Main Streets/Downtowns in late 2026.

Regional Resident Survey - Anyone who lives in, visits and works in the RiverCOG Region is asked to respond to the survey and provide their opinions. Take the Survey.

Please share the survey with residents, workers and visitors in your town by distributing the survey information and link through your library, town hall, schools, businesses, community centers, senior centers, senior housing and employees. Use these templates for Instagram, Facebook, Newsletters and Businesses​
